Adobe Photoshop
Adobe Photoshop is the famous program known for editing pictures. It can be used for many purposes. You can draw your own pictures or cartoons from scratch. You can edit existing photos. You can crop, rotate, flip, change size, change saturation, and do hundreds of more modifications. Some of the most infamous uses for Photoshop are making models on covers of magazines look more attractive, changing the background of a picture to make it look like you are someplace you are not, and putting you next to famous people who you weren’t really next to.
Adobe Photoshop has a long history, and it has something to do with Star Wars. Star Wars is one of my favorite movies, and in some ways, without Star Wars, we would not have Adobe Photoshop. John Knoll is one of the original creators of Photoshop. He worked for Industrial Light and Magic, one of the visual effects companies founded for Star Wars. (The History of Photoshop) He helped put out the original “Photoshop 1.0” in the year 1990. It started out as only a Macintosh program, but soon was available for Windows as well. (Thomas & John Knoll) The current version of Adobe Photoshop is “CS4.”
Adobe Photoshop is not a cheap program. You can buy it for $579.99 from Amazon.com, or for $699 from Adobe.com. (Adobe Photoshop Family) Considering you can buy laptops for under $500, Adobe Photoshop is quite costly. However, if you want to do anything you want with photos, there is not substitute for this great program.
